Efes Pilsen crushed Besiktas to the dust on Saturday in Abdi Ipekci Arena and tied the semi final series at 1. From the first second to the end Efes Pilsen dominated the game at the both ends of the floor and Besiktas failed to match toughness and intensity showed by Efes Pilsen. In the second half a big boost by Besiktas fans helped Michael Wright to resist and the visitors tried to bounce back but it was too late. 19 points by Ermal Kurtoglu (207-C-80, agency: Edge Sports, college: Seminole JC) and Kerem Gonlum's defensive effort plus the bench contribution led Efes Pilsen to victory and made it 1-1. A highly motivated Ulker squad came up very tough and slammed a hopeless Efes Pilsen in Game 3 to sweep the final series and grabbed the fourth TBL championship in it's 13 year old history. The defending champs started the game with a different starting line up. Ender Arslan and Nikola Prkacin started the game instead of Marko Popovic and Ermal Kurtoglu. On the other hand Vrbica Stefanov was on the bench as Cuneyt Erden, the hero of Game 2 was on the floor again. Both teams got off to a good start on offence, feeding the big guys in the paint or driving to the hoop and Ulker led the first quarter by one thanks to Ibrahim Kutluay. In the second quarter Ulker tougned up defensively, outrebounded Efes front court and received a big boost by it's bench to open up a 9 point advantage at the half. The second half was no different than the third quarter even though Robert Gulyas left the game with a sprained ankle but Ira Clark was there and he was too tough to handle. Ulker contained Nikola Prkacin with double teams, ran fast breaks while Efes coach Oktay Mahmuti decided to play with 2 point guards to stop turnovers and sideline Domercant and Charles Smith till the end of game but nothing worked except Cenk Akyol who came off the bench and tried to rally his team. In the last quarter Ermal Kurtoglu who has done a good job in the play offs so far stepped in to the floor for the first time but Murat Ozyer's squad was already up by 17 and they never looked back. Ulkerspor has managed to take the TBL title for the first time since they won the trophy in 2001 and they also stopped Efes Pilsen to grab the fifth title in a row.
