Mons has hoped to come into Oostende and snatch game one away from the home team. It looked good for Mons till the end of the 3rd quarter when they were only behind by 3 (64-61). The final quarter however proved to much for the visitors who were blown away 30 to 15 in the last 10 minutes. George Evans the league's MVP was held to 11 pts and Toby Bailey (196-G/F-75, college: UCLA) played his best game since arriving in Oostende with 21 pts.

The number one priority for Mons was to get a win at home to keep their hopes for a first Belgian Championship alive. Oostende started out really well in the first quarter and led after 10 minutes 17-27. The home team clawded its way back into the game and was only behind by 4 at the half. The 2nd quarter saw first Mons get a 10-0 run which was later in the quarter followed by a 0-12 Oostende run. The 3rd quarter was once again very close and Mons managed to cut another 2 pts off the Oostende lead after 30 minutes. Both team took the lead early in the final quarter, before Oostende managed to get a 5 pts lead at 65-70. Whose who thought the game was played then, were wrong because thanks to Omar Cook and a 3pt shot made by Tica Mons now was in the lead with 73-70. In the end the game was however decided from the free throw line and Oostende managed to go home with a 2-0 series lead.

Mons did what it had to do to keep its hope of a first championship alive. It was not pretty to watch but it did give them the much needed road win to avoid being swept by Oostende. They could tie it up next saturday at home and put Oostende with their backs to the wall for a possible 5th game.
