elvino Posted March 21, 2008 Share Posted March 21, 2008 Londra - L’attore inglese John Hewer, icona internazionale della pubblicità, famoso per aver interpretato il ruolo di Capitan Findus, è morto in una casa di riposo per attori di Isleworth, nel Meddlesex (Inghilterra). Aveva 84 anni. Iniziò la carriera come attore cinematografico nel 1951 recitando nel film drammatico "L’uomo in nero". Nel corso degli anni Cinquanta recitò in una ventina di film, in genere polizieschi o drammatici. Avviata la carriera teatrale, Hewer conquistò grande popolarità interpretando dal 1967 al 1998 il personaggio di Capitan Findus nello spot pubblicitario televisivo dedicato ai bastoncini di pesce prodotti dal marchio inglese all’epoca di proprietà di una società svedese. Nel corso di trentadue anni di attività pubblicitaria, Hewer è diventato una vera e propria icona dello spot tanto che, in base ad un sondaggio nel 1983, risultò come il marinaio più famoso del mondo subito dopo il personaggio storico del capitano Cook.
